Interesting that they're still wearing M-1916/1917 helmets in 1943...perhaps this was the funeral of a WWI vet?

The colour of the banner ribbon is also black-white-red, the old German Imperial colours.

Any idea regarding the nationality of the other men in uniform?

The ribbon colors look blue white red to me. Also one fellow in the corner is wearing a beret - my guess would be that this is a burial for a French RAD vounteer

                            Burial

                            Hello,

This is the burial of a french POW. His POW comrads are still in the uniforms of their former unit (in the french army). The germans are the StaLag (or OfLag) guards equiped with older helmets and even with french rifles.

StaLag (Stammlager) = prisoner camps for other ranks
OfLag (Offizierslager) = prisoner camps for officers

                            Best regards

                              evening guys !

its always fascinating to see what information people can pull out of photos. Thats one of the big reasons why i love this hobby
Thank you for all the feedback on the above images. The small grouping always fascinated me with the ww1 german equipment and french POWs.

                              Thank you.
