These just continue to amaze. I know it sounds nuts, but the colour makes you realise that it really happened, all this stuff with Hitler and the rest really happened.

thanks everyone for the lovely words.

Every year more and more people help me and pixpast. They see we are really investing a big part of our lives to preserve and researching these rare color pieces of film.
And as mentioned before.. these never before glimpses of history in colour really bring it home.. that is did all really happen to normal people like you and me.

So.... I hope you enjoy the following images also from the recent pixpast acquisition from an officer of the 101st Cavalry Regiment Germany Austria 1944 1945.

Here's a curiosity for you, Ian. Those soldiers in white helmets are from the US Army, but many of them weren't Americans. In fact, they were former members of the Estonian and Latvian Waffen-SS, given "displaced person" status while in American captivity, and then taken on as auxiliaries by the US Army!

I wonder did anyone make an interview with one of those chaps. Must have been a very interesting life story.

The 1939 shots above all look like "the present" particularly the Königsplatz shot could be now. Amazing as usual.

                          Hi Ian,

Great stuff, as always, though the caption to the third of the four pix in note #564 should read:

Munich 1939, Königsplatz: Ehrentempel, Führerbau and Braunes Haus.

                          Cheers,

                          Br. James

Here are a few more new scans from tonight. The flak color slides came from the nice luftwaffe flak collection I mentioned a few weeks ago. Very nice grouping with about 250 military color slides and lots of super sharp black and white negatives.
Here is the start of that collection.

                            Have a lovely weekend guys.

I so wish it had been a colour film war (not that anyone actually wants a blinking war, but you know what I mean). Just look at the detail on the guy's uniform. What Tom said.
