I have not commented as everyone is doing a pretty good job here, however, I don't think we should "throw the baby out with the bath water" as far as Kelly is concerned.

I sincerely hope that Kelly Hicks would not be involved. He has a stellar reputation and no doubt a great source of knowledge. BUT his partner is Ken N. Let us hope that the two are not that close.

Another piece of this saga. Member HJP has stepped up to fill the gap between the actual value of the helmet he sold me , and the selling price. He advises that Ken has not, as of now, made any movement to correct the situation.
Hats off to our Canadian friend...the mark of a real man.
And hey, this was not about the dough. This was about the central issue in this thread,,,,,trusting who you are dealing with. This forum has put me in touch with some true collectors, who are as honest as new rain. I have treasured these contacts, and will continue to buy/sell /trade with these good folk. So, despite this episode, take heart, there are the "good guys" out there.

Polizei Helmet Issue

Regardless of how Ken addresses this matter, or not, I don't feel any assumptions can be made relative to Kelly Hicks. On the helmets Kelly posts on the website, he requests direct contact with him. For the most part, he does not post that many items. Further, his COA's are provided over his signiature, with no mention of any other associations. Again, I'm not reaching any judgements as to anyone, but it is not uncommon for one business partner to be totally unaware of the unfortunate acts of the other. It happens every day!

O.K. so once again I bring up the idea of a group of learned and trusted collectors putting together a certification program that is independent of dealers. This is not new and is responsible for setting standards in the Japanese sword collecting world. Different papers are awarded for different grades/quality swords and fittings. Why couldn't this happen here? If I have a helmet I want to have authenticated (also read assigned a value) then I submit it for judging. This is really not all that new, we do it here all the time. Also at shows or some such, judging could take place and new collectors could join in and learn hands on what to look for. With the prices today it is just asking too much to trust any dealers COA. It helps everybody and the discouraged collectors like myself might take heart in this hobby again.

wrong!! You don't get it. Kelly wrote the bible on German helmets and you will pay anything for a helmet in his book There are many fake helmets in both books. Did you notice that Ken is in the credits in both books. What does this mean? kelly must not know who his friends are, or does'nt know anything. Maybe he know's nothing, some Just some jerk who made money off the no nothing new book smart collectors. Is Kelly next? go after him. He fakes helmets to.. Nobody know more than him. Ken and Kelly are out to screw you all. Just look how much you have to pay for a M42 single SS helmet now, $3.500.00 to $5,000.00 Just before his book came out you could fine a nice one for $1,800.00 Don't give any doubt. I know because I have been in this hobby longer that Kelly and I know him well and he learned form me. I will buy all your helmets with replaced liners because they are real. The liner in nothing. I have seen People pay big money for helmets without liners. Let's all overreact and hang everybody. He wrote a book and gave credit to a bunch of fakers. Boy you better ask for a refund. One by one you go down the list and find that everyone is a crook.. I just hope that your wives don't cheat on you because I am sure someone will bring it up on a public forum. Like I said before some should practice unexpressed thought. Sorry but I hate that this forum has become just a place to ruin Peoples reputation. Kick me off this forum if you want.
