    Dear PAB,

..it doesn't make sense to continue this subject, everything has been already said. Everyone can read the threads and decide. We have respect to all our customers, friends and collectors. You are always welcome as our customer.

    Chris Pittman,

    thank you for disinterested opinion.

I've dealt with Blazej and Szymon a few times and found them to be great guys, very accomodating. I think the problem that PAB has is that had he known before the helmet was mailed (if I am reading the posts correctly) he probably wouldn't have bought the helmet or at least would have taken it into more serious consideration. As it is, PAB is out money for shipping and Western Union charges which can't be cheap and I know that feeling all too well. Not to deride or knock B&S but I can see where PAB is coming from.

As for Ken's side of the helmet story, his silence is deafening.

Now I'm confused. In one photo, there is an SS helmet without a liner. In the next photo, the same helmet for sale with a liner. Who added the liner? If it was B&S, then there is no "might have a replaced liner" to the story. If B&S replaced it and then said in an email "maybe"...well....

In a nut-shell, there are three types of sellers -- whether they are big name people in the business or just people who happened across a third reich item.

#1 will fully disclose any pertinent information they know or suspect before the sale.

#2 are like the US military's homosexual policy -- if you don't ask, I won't tell. The majority of sellers fall in this group.

#3 will downright lie... or even add or enhance an item to gain profit.

It's absolutely true that a lot of "old time" helmet collectors see nothing wrong with replacing worn or missing parts to a helmet. When you do it yourself and then say "maybe" it was replaced or -- even worse -- "its transitional", then you are a liar and fall in category #3

Pete I agree with you and I would be very angry too for this behaviour; things MUST be said before the payment, not after.
For BS, I think this is the case you should modify your rules because these ones don't match the expectation of the collectors, sincerely,

Guys, how do you explain such a perfect rivet? New fake rivets perfectly painted and aged or original rivets? I think the latter is quite impossible...I would like to know your opinions guys, thanks, Mauro

now which helmet we are talking about ??? the one that PAB bought ?? or the one that B&S sold without a liner and later was on Kens page - but already with liner ?? (from Ardenes ?? )

I think Blaz knows more details...

Peter it looks like you have a good case .The seller should give you a full refund on return of the helmet or a 50% refund and you get to keep the helmet . They should have said ."PETE WE FITTED THE LINER AND PINS OURSELVES SORRY WE SHOULD HAVE LET YOU KNOW BUT WE FORGOT SOMEHOW IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THIS REVELATION PLEASE RETURN IT FOR A FULL REFUND WE ARE REALLY SORRY "

Man, this thread has gotten WAY off track.

First, the police helmet was not "restored." It had the correct liner in it to begin with. It was "enhanced" by adding a different liner to increase its value by making it something that it was not.

This is what is known as FRAUD.

And on top of that, you ruined a piece of history just for a few $'s.

And I would like to welcome all the new, elderly members to the forum. It is great to have your wisdom and knowledge of how things were done "in the old days" (when everyone screwed up everything they could).

Anyway, as said, Erich did a great job as he brought KenN's helmet offer to our attention.

                        Hey Niedersachsen,
Are you sure you're responding and quoting me?
Your reply doesn't make any sense.
What wrong orbservation? Panzerlord's? (and Perry's?) They think they know who's hiding behind Charly and Ich-oder-du, alter egos of the man in question.

Yeah... agreed, Erich did a great job.

                          Hi Kasserinepass

What Niedersachsen was saying is that HIS quote
" Great detective work Erich.....Thanks for that..." was misread by you and Panzerlord as belonging to Charly650helmets and gave food for some strange thinking...

I hope it is clear now

Ken's silence on this issue continues and can only mean one thing, that he does not know how to explain the exchange of liners, perhaps he believes he does not owe this forum an explanation.

Ken has been touted as 'reputable, trust worthy etc' if you believe he has sinned I sincerely hope you stick to your guns and avoid purchasing from his site. Perhaps his site should be blacklisted by the collecting community, it is so difficult in this day and age to fine decent unmessed with helmets and Ken was a trusted source. However, I am sure he probably does not care about this thread, it seems there are plenty of customers buying up his 'original' stock.

He can blame no-one but himself for flushing his reputation down the toilet.
