Where's the other liner?

I wonder if there's a way to find out which helmet the Police liner went into. Would it have also been for sale on his site? Would it have made a significant difference in the perceived value of the helmet and would the description of that helmet have mentioned any kind of story of the liner?
We're looking at a Police helmet that has a swapped liner and I'd be interested to find out about the Police liner, now in a different helmet shell.

As for the question if I am "Cherlie" (I believe you meant "CHARLIE"), no, I am not. But I can certainly feel his frustration, based on what he wrote in just this thread.

As for the liner swap in question, like I said, BIG DEAL. The helmet was shown for what it CURRENTLY IS. To me, if someone did in fact swap the liner, that person made the WRONG CHOICE of the style and date. But "NEWBIES", this is where EXPERIENCE comes in!! I knew the liner was WRONG for the helmet, so I didn't need to post it on this "LESS THAN IMPARTIAL" site. My information was given and you are free to learn from it or not. The choice is yours, and YOURS ALONE.

Should the seller have listed this helmet as having a liner swap? Yes, most likely he should have. But for "THE MOB" to form and get so carried away by this simple little thing, is, well, I guess it is simply the "MOB MENTALITY". Remember people, there were calls to "lynch" Kelly Hicks too! Just because Ken and Kelly were reported as being "business partners"! Sounds like "Mindless McCarthyism" to ME!!

this thread has bought to surface down right fraud.the helmet was sold and the buyer never told the liner had been swapped you even said so your self he should have been told.so dont start getting on your high horse and looking down on people who have helped people on this site.judging buy the way you defend ken you are most likely a friend or relative.why you state its no big deal is beyond me its theft fraud and downright deciet.

You need only ask yourself a few simple questions...

WHY ARE HELMET LINERS REPLACED?

WHY DID KEN (insert any other dealer/collector that does this) NOT ADVERTISE IT AS A HELMET WITH A REPLACED LINER?

WHAT WAS THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE?

If it is perfectly legitimate to add nice liners to nice or desireable shells, why is it a problem stating this is the case when advertising them?

If there was nothing wrong with this practice, then why did Ken, on previous occassion, go to great lengths to try to prove to us here that he DID NOT replace the liner of a helmet (the thread is already linked here)? Not to mention add a veteran story.

Any sane person here knows the answer. The ones that do not - DECEPTION & GREED!

In even easier terms - Put two equal condition Heer M40 single decals by Q for sale/auction. Advertise one as complete original the other as a helmet with replaced liner. Any website, any auction, any dealer and you know what the results will be. I submit to you that even a much nicer shell with replaced liner would, in most cases, be less desireable and therefore less valuable than the complete original! I would think that this whole conversation was moot as this is obvious. But then again, as already stated, some here have an agenda. Is it possible that there is a Union for Dishonest Dealers? Perhaps they have banded together to come here and justify their trade...

I personally think that Ken is commiting a crime. Here is the wording at the top of the sale page:

"Mail Fraud", "Theft by Deception" are the charges in my area, they may be different up by Ken, but I am sure the wording on the charge is very similar... Here is a better word for it:

I do have a question for the fellas that think we are stupid and don't have a clue about helmets. Where does a helmet stop being authentic? Is a shell with a replaced decal OK? Is an original helmet that has a camo paint circa 2006 OK? How about a Spanish shell, repainted with original liner, and SS decal added? Is this OK?

YES, "GROUND DUG" German helmets are JUNK, TRASH and GARBAGE!!! No SERIOUS collector would even think about collecting them. The fact that some do, well, that is their choice to do so. It's still just JUNK and not worth anything, but hey, if you want to collect it, go ahead! Just don't try to impress anyone with your "overly oxidized antiques".

Comparing "GROUND DUG" German helmets to real relics from the past (Roman, Greek, Celtic, etc.), there is NO COMPARISON! The really OLD STUFF are TRUE RELICS! The "Ground Dug" German helmets , as I have said before, and will CONTINUE to say, are JUNK! Ask any ARCHAEOLOGIST!

To the other "OLDIE" out there - That's really nice that you think it is a "SIN" to swap a ROTTEN liner with a NICE one. Stick with those principles! If it works for you, GREAT. But don't try to blame the rest of us collectors who KNOW restoration saves many a military item from the JUNK PILE!

Of course it matters who you are! Because of the abuses you pour to the collectors and to the forum, because of the position you express and etc.

Someone may register an account, Ich_Fick_Dich and explain to the forum with colorful words, that the collectors are a mob of junk-collecting turds, which can not even compare to the glory of Mr. Ich_Fick_Dich, who has collected German helmets since 1934 and has about 1273 pieces in the shed. And, according to Mr. Ich_Fick_Dich, there is no bigger sin than changing a helmet's liner, this has never been done by a real collector in the history oif collecting, this has never been ever acceptable for the real collectors!

So, Ich_1 says something /from the Olympus of his knowledge and experience/, while Ich_2 says the opposite, from his own high peak of knowledge and experience.

Did you get the idea? The source of your opinion regarding the liner swapping is your great experience with helmets. But so is the situation with Mr. Ich_2. Two people, claiming the opposite, based on their personal glory, which glory is seen by... noone. Without somehow proving you actually have more than a week experience /that's the name for - if you are quarter what you claim to be, you won't be unheard of among the collectors/, your words are empty rethorics and childish abuses to a wide audience.
