    police helmet

I have been told that Ken has contacted the buyer a couple of days ago.
He said that he is being accused of changing liners from helmet to helmet and that he has offered a full refund if the buyer wishes to send the helmet back i think he regrets anything that has happened and if he could change things then he would.

I have been reading the thread have been waiting for some type of response as well. After the thread above was posted it took less then 4 hours for a response. I think we would all like a response, I would even take a surly "'F' off to all of you!" or something to that effect.

Somehow I find this hard to believe in the sense that
Q: What is he apologizing for?
Q: Was he guilty of something?
                Please enlighten us more...

                    ....and quacks like a duck..

Better than four years ago I found this Forum and identified it as one which might help the common collector 'get around' the dealer clique and the underhanded crap that occured at shows.

Those who have been (here) a while know I came in very heavy handed and even was asked by Bill Stump (after my 1st post) 'what crawled up your a**' GRHS...

The fraudulent offerings haven't even been dented BUT the net (this venue) surely has had an impact. The cliques continue although now clearly identified as they support each other....

FRAUDS...costing hard working 'collectors' thousands and thousands of dollars have supported (some) dealers for years including the 'good old boy' network associated w/ this hobby but all is starting to be clear.

Many may remember JohnJ...a nasty bstd but at least he wasn't beholding to any dealer or clique....fast forward to this post and I think that Bill Stump would have said to (me) you were right! There's no excuse, step aside, ooopps that condones this sort of activity!

Good on all...who support the boot, sanction and better yet expelling of those involved in this........others have been less fortunate...but they weren't dealers
                    Regards,
                    Dave

                        hi all,

                        very interesting (long) thread.
the attempt of fraud and dishonesty are obvious.
                        considering last infos,
the seller surely understood that the only way for him to limit consequences for his activity is to take back the helmet with total refund to the buyer,
and AFTER to inform the forum that he made a mistake, repaired it and apologize for the mess, etc...

                        we'll see...

                        cheers

Hmm, I'm afraid all the presumed #1's I've encountered turned out to be #2's or #3's in the end.
I could draw a parallel to women and marriage, but I won't.

The only thing he regrets is being caught. His helmet certificates of authenticity are worthless and everyone who purchased one should get a refund. But what bothers me most is that he f****d with history. Makes you wonder just how many bastard helmets are out there? This really hurts collecting.

I honestly believe this may impact Ken's business slightly at first, but once this blows over, I feel most collectors will continue dealing with him. People have to get their helmets from someone and he may just represent the best of the worst dealers. People will no longer say, "Ken, yeah, don't worry about his stuff", now they'll say, "Ken, yeah, be careful when buying from him".

He has permanently lost his status as a top dealer of course, but it's not like he'll have to close up shop.
