          Hi Bob,
Yes these are mine, the bottle measures 43cm by 11cm, I've no idea what the two white stripes mean.

              Thanks Jim!

I'm building a 1/6 model of a Fw 189 cockpit/crew nacelle. I want to add as much detail as I can and I would guess your bottle would be the same as used in the Fw.

I wonder if the rings are like the rings on gloves and socks??? 1 ring - small, 2 rings - medium, 3 rings - large?

While this type of torch was not Luftwaffe issue and dose not have a FL number on them, they were widely used by aircrew, as seen in many photos, I feel it is a good addition to a Luftwaffe collection. (and unlike most Luftwaffe items, not too expensive)

I've read that recon aircraft would drop messages, reports, etc (contained in tubes) to ground troops as they advanced. Any idea what these tubes looked like and what color they were? I've searched the forum, but nothing came up.

                          Hi Bob,

                          they looked like this...
This is the one in my collection, a German Message-tube. Dropped out of an airplane on a parachute.

With a detonator for the smoke-charge. (All empty and inert)

Here is the space for the message when you screw off the lid on the bottom.

                                Francois,
Thanks a bunch, just what I was looking for! I had documentation saying the Fw 189 had them on board, but your photos of them are they only ones I've seen.
