In very early 1935 the RZM came out with manufacturer numbering and the logo a few months before the "M" numbers were finalized. You do see badges from this time with just a number and logo, although rare.

I personally don't like the look of the rest of the "44" marked badge:

The "O" on the front is oval and not round
The pin sticks out past the edge of the badge
The tips of the swastika don't touch the inner rim of the silver circle
The RZM logo ("Schutzzeichen") has a broken outer ring under the "M"

It could be real, but I personally would pass.

                PEOPLE!!!

Look at the Mike's badge! Now look at my friend's badge.
I think my friend's badge is fake because:
                1) another mark's position (but font is similar)
                2) !!! If you turn a badge a swastika downwards the needle will look to the right while at ALL another badges of this type the needle looks to the left!! ("D.A.P." is below)

What do you think about it?

                  Stipple pattern

Does anyone know if the dot stipple pattern is the same for all the badges that one manufacturer made?

                  Mike

                    Mike,
From what I've read and seen stippling on membership badges is fairly standard regardless of maker, where you will find some differences is in badges made prier to 1935 before RZM regulations were set down. One thing I know for sure is it is very hard to compare stippling from pictures here on the forum do to the different lighting used to photograph them as stippling was used like the facets in a diamond to reflect light to catch the eye. I have photographed the same badge in natural light and with a flash and came up with totally different looks regarding the stippling.
