And one quiz for you... Among the photos Bill has posted, one photo was NOT actually taken by a GI... It is from a series of photographs from 3.Panzer-Division (so some GI got it from a PoW, I think). Which one?

          Hello Akira
I think photo 65 of the destroyed Panzer IV is from the series of the 3rd Panzer Div.
I also want to thank Mr.Petz for posting some great photos.
I believe the pics of the 54cm Karl Gerat is vehicle number V named Loki.
according to the Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War II 1978 addition "U.S. forces captured vehicle II with 60cm barrel (possible Eve) and vehicle V with 54cm barrel"
Since you two pics show U.S. soldiers with a 54cm barrel this may be Loki.
I know that alot of information in the book is outdated but maybe this will help

Photo 95 Panzer IV you can see the other side of this vehicle in the background on page 57 bottom of Tom Jentz's book Tiger Kampf and Tatics.

I believe Panther photo 1 and 6 are the same tank.
          Hope this helps
          Best regards

I apologize Gents!! #65 came with a grouping of US photos and therefore I thought it was one of the knocked out Panzers in the grouping. That just shows you how great this forum is....not much gets by old (Desert) Foxes like Akira, Allen, Andrew and Mike!!

Akira, Thanks for posting the pic of "Ursula" I knew someone would eventually post one but didn't expect it to be the one that andrew described...and the resultant horrific death of one of three dead crewmen. I also llove that Tiger II pic that you posted. Thanks for joining in and making it "Official"

Andrew, Thanks for joinging in as well and providing a very detailed description with background information. Your contribution is very much appreciated and please do post pics when you can.

Allen the same goes for you and thank you for your kind comment and for joining in on this thread!!!

I have some more pics that Mike sent to me so I believe it's time I should post them and keep this thread going. Here is a Tiger II on a lowboy

                          Bill,

Really fantastic photos, thanks for sharing! Do you have any info on when/where the photo of the Tiger II on the lowboy was taken (#126)?

@Akira - do you know when where your photo #121 was taken, or the unit this tank was in?

                          Regards,
                          Greg

Thanks for the welcome Akira, I'm glad I dropped by. As well as all Messrs.Petzs and Pruetts fantastic photos, it has provided an answer to a previously mysterious Panther namely the vehicle with the unusual spare wheel mount I described above. I've now had this confirmed that this is the same vehicle Michael Pruett was on about in Coopers Death Traps e.g Pz.Lehrs 'Elna'. Probably old news to some but not to others!

Nice to bump into Allen here too, not seen you around for a while

Akira, I'd be interested in more info on your Tiger II shot as well please. At first glance I thought the TII on the low loader might Shrivehams but I don't think it is on reviewing other shots of this vehicle. Commonwealth troops though??

photo 46 shows A Panzer IV front angle and a Tiger rear view possibly in Rome.
A photo of the Tiger with G.I.'s running by is in the book WWII Day by Day a dorling Kindersley book page 521

I first thought that the Tiger Akira posted was one of the last picked up by 3/511 in the Kassel area.
Specificly I thought it was the Ocotopus camo Tiger but it is a different vehicle.

                                Hope it helps
