    Greg,

I have no information about the Tiger II on the lowboy...Pic belongs to Mike Pruett.

Here is a couple of photos that I found searching through another box of US pics. First is a Panther knocked out...pic was taken out of a Photo album.

                Hi Bill,

You have started another great thread. I hope other similar threads get started like this in the near future. I remembered I have a couple pics of captured German emplacements. In fact, I was just getting ready to post the exact same photo as #139. I wonder how many copies of this photo exist? It is a Panzer II Ausf F turret.

Here are the only other pics I have. The first is a captured Flak 88 emplacement.

This one is a captured emplacement with a great view of the harbor.

And this is the final GI photo I have of a captured Pak 40. Notice the ammo still lying around the gun.

Greetings and many thanks to Andrew, Akira, Allen, Greg, Marco Glysen and the many others who have input some great responses to this thread. To briefly try to answer a few questions:

I agree, the photo of the Panther sitting in front of the building captioned "1944 La- Haye-Du-Puits, France" is in fact the same one shown on page 135 of Panzers in Normandy with the GI’s running around. The US Army caption in this book identifies the location as "Saintery." My photo came along with about 100 other photos that were all captioned in a similar fashion. These all came from the estate of a former Army Medic. He captioned each and every photo from his landing in Normandy to Bastogne and up to the end of the war in Germany.

The Tiger II on the lowboy trailer has no captions or markings what so ever. I agree, the troops (at least in the foreground) appear to be British troops with the berets and the guy on the right wearing a leather jerkin. Any thoughts on this?

As for the 3. Pz. Division photo that showed up with the GI photos I have a number of really nice German photos that were brought back with GI’s. My favorite is a RAD photo album of a German who started in the RAD, then Panzer-Rgt. 3 and then ended up in a Panzerjäger (Sf) outfit. This album was captured by a GI who removed the German photos he did not like, left the ones he did and then added his own photos of his service time as a Mechanized Infantryman.

I’ll try to dig out some more photos over the weekend and forward these on to my #1 GI friend Bill.
                      Best Regards
                      Mike

                        Tiger 2 on lowboy trailer

                        Hi all

I think that the tiger 2 in the photo is tank no 121, also of SS sPzAbt 101.
This tank was also recoverred by the same British unit which recoverred tank no.104.
If you look closely on the photo you can see that there is no muzzle break on this tank, and photos of 121 show it to be missing its muzzle break.

                        regards
                        Andy Found
