Have you seen the button & loop fastening Denisson smock on display in the Hartenstien? It is shown on a figure in the Royal Signals display in the basement. What do you think of this one, if you have seen it? Have you seen the one shown in the book "Soldiers in Normandy; June 6th 1944"? I have seen many Belgian smocks over the years too. If you have one of these smocks it would be very useful if you could post some photos on the forum.

    Cheers, Ade.
I haven't seen the one at the Hartenstein museum Adrian, neither have I read the Soldiers in Normandy book.
I have a 1944 Denison with buttons and loops fastening; loops are made from a part of the liner. If you'd like to see pictures of that let me know and I'll put some on my site (http://home.tiscali.nl/nijsten/). An identical one is shown in the Militaria Magazine special about British airborne uniforms in Normandy. On my site you will see a picture of a Belgium smock too.
    Cheers, Luc

Hi Luc, please add the pics to your site, as I and the other lads I am sure, would love to see it.

I think that the "Militaria magazine" photo is the same one as in the book I mentioned

      Cheers, Ade.

        Hi Adrian,

        I have uploaded some pictures:
        http://home.tiscali.nl/nijsten/denison/
You will notice it has plastic buttons, Militaria Magazine also mentions brass buttons.
        Cheers, Luc

Hi Luc, thanks for posting the pics.

However, I was not amused to find photos of my 2nd pattern Denisson smock on your website used without my permission. These photos were stolen from this website. I would like them removing please.

          Cheers, Ade.

            My apologies Adrian,
What picture exactly do you want me to remove? I had no idea pictures were from this forum, mostly they are from eBay and other collections.
            Cheers, Luc

I am interested to know where these photos come from? They have only been posted on this forum.Who supplied them unless you took them from here?

The photos which are of my smock are the main photo of the 2nd pattern smock and the button detail of the same.

              Cheers, Ade.

What would you think of a 1942 date on a second pattern smock? I have seen those twice now, and I know such date is too early it looked all perfectly genuine to me!

Hi Luc, I have seen 1943 dated examples, but I cannot recall a 1942 dated one before, but it could well be possible? Any pics?

With regards to my photos. If you would like to use them, I will allow you to use them BUT please give me a credit on your site to those pics. I have freely shared hundreds of photos of my collection on this site over the years. People have emailed and PM'ed me asking if they could copy my pictures for their own personal use. I have always said that anyone is very welcome to do this if it helps them. But for use on a website I would want to have a request in writing first. Hope that this is understood?

                  Cheers, Ade.

OK Ade, I will look into this.

I don't have pictures of the 1942 dated 2nd pattern smock; I have a picture of the label that I can send you. One possible theory is that the manufacturer used old labels for this smock.

                      Not the first time either...

                      Hello Ade,

I was not surprised to see photos of your gear on Luc's website, because you will probably notice alot of my things are also on there too.

They were taken without my permission and when I saw them all I was quite shocked. Anyway, I told Luc to put my name on his homepage and I wouldn't mind so much.

                      Cheers, from Jack.

I was unpleasantly surprised when I found out where these pictures originally came from; the thing is that I have recieved pictures from many people via e-mail and I constantly browse the Internet so I can't remember sometimes where I got them. I will try and be more careful about this. Jack, you should have contacted me about using pictures from your collection; I specifically ask for that on my site.
                        Cheers, Luc

I have done so 2 days ago, if you still see the older version, please delete your temporary internet files and then refresh the page.

                                Ade,

I looked and your name along with Jacks is now shown.

There is nothing worse than finding your photos on another website without having been approached or asked permission first. Its only common courtesy? Recently photos belonging to Marc B were taken without permission from our website. Bloody annoying and when I emailed the other website I got some lame excuse about them getting the photos direct from a veteran which was ridicoulous as I knew the origins of the photos. I gave the other site a free advertisement on our website for stealing photos. Funnily enough within 24 hours the nicked photos disappeared? Its a widespread problem with the internet. I advise everyone to mark photos displayed on the web with their name or some other id.
