Watched a very little bit this morning and laughed when they porported to have documents stating Hitler was seen in eastern Germany, as late as April 24, 1945....Territory that would have been under Russian control at that time.....A sick, paranoid man who feared capture and being strung up ala Mussolini, was seen roaming around an area heavily infested with Russians?....Yeah right!....Bodes

The U-boat they dove on (U-711) appears to be the only known diveable U-boat wreck in Norwegian waters. That's probably why they pushed that nonsense about (by then nonexistent) heavy water being shipped there for transport to South America when Bergen or Trondheim would have been a much more logical destination. They went to Narvik so that Tim could "discover" a U-boat like he'd made some major find.

OK, so if the Hunting Hitler series is complete rubbish, then why do no WWII documentaries ever mention the underground tunnels at Obersalzberg, the plans with an unfinished elevator to an underground roadway?

It's a reality TV show, they exaggerate, take things out of context, and do the stupid background music to keep people watching. I'm not convinced the Hitler bunker suicide occurred, and the Russian Hitler skull was a female skull fragment after DNA testing was done years ago.

Perhaps because they're not relevant to the topic of a particular documentary? There's nothing special in the tunnels themselves, they're not proof of anything other than Nazi expertise at building bunkers and tunnels.

No, they were NOT "reporting on Hitler's movements in South America". They were duly investigating stories and rumors reported to their office as they should have and put them into the crank files when nothing was discovered. Look through all of the FBI and CIA files, you won't find one page in which anyone from either agency ever confirms any of it

The skull fragment was discovered in the burial pit a year after the war. It was not attached to a body, nobody involved in the recovery ever claimed it was his. Nobody who understands the origins of the fragment cite it as evidence of his death in Berlin. The dental remnants are the real proof of his demise. It is logical that he would commit suicide. Hitler saw himself as the central figure in a real life grand Wagnerian opera. He believed that his & Germany's fates were inextricably bound, he WAS Germany and vice versa. Both would either emerge from the war in glorious triumph or go down together in a grand blazing spectacle of ashes, ruin, and death. All or nothing, he wouldn't live without Germany and he believed that Germany should not exist without him. Like the possessive psycho ex-husband/boyfriend who doesn't want to live without his wife/girlfriend and doesn't want her to live without him.

Why would anyone want to watch it happen? Would you, if you were there? Personally I would imagine that they wanted to give them some privacy. As for the Nuremberg defendants, none of them claimed to have seen the bodies because THEY WEREN'T THERE. All of the surviving witnesses were taken back to Russia where they were held in captivity and interrogated by the Russians. They weren't released until after Stalin's death, well after Nuremberg.

There is a recent Nazi Megaweapons episode and a Hidden Traces episode that explore some of the Obersalzberg tunnels. Back in the early 2000s when the tunnels were all being measured, there were German TV documentaries about the tunnels, including the planned elevators and "deep" tunnel system. I've seen this dubbed in English as well. In addition, these details are covered in several books. The Hunting Hitler people did not in any way "discover" any of this.
