Here's a few photos from a Panzer Rgt. 5 tanker's solduch. He was an upper tank man (gunner) who served with the Regiment from its inception. I believe he entered the Afrikan theatre with the Regiment on March 10, 1941.
After recovering from wounds sustained in North Africa, he was transferred to Panzer Rgt. 28 (18th Panzer Div.) and served at Kursk.
Thanks for compliments, your correct, DAK soldat soldbach shows he was dispatched to Afrika Feb 1.' 41 and arrived in Afrika Mar 10 afternoon...He is from 1st Bn, 5th Pz regt. Splendid !
Head wound on October 28, 1942 probably at the El Alamein front. Killed during an allied air bombardment near Le Parc, France (Caen sector), June 10, 1944.
Here's a WP from a tanker of the 7th Kompanie / Pzr. Rgt. 5. He arrived in Afrika on September 1 and joined the 7th Komp. in the field on September 3, 1941.
After evacuation due the schrapnel/head wound, he joined Panzer Lehr as an instructor and later joined the 7th Komp. of that Regt. He was killed on June 10, 1944 during a ver heavy allied bombing raid on June 10, 1944 near Le Parc, (now Le Parcq) France [Caen Sector]. This soldat lies buried at Bourdon Military Cemetary.
Here's a WP from a Panzer Rgt. 5 tanker (driver). He earned the panzer badge and later the kraftwahr badge in bronze during the later stages of the campaign - perhaps due to panzer shortages.
It's a nifty item and I hope the members enjoy the photos.
