Hello there,
That green pith helmet has a wonderfully toned eagle as well!

Wow, I am happy to see this thread I started with a few miserable items has turned into a major thread with exellent items being posted. I unfortunately can not post anything more, so I will put this wonderfull picture found on the net instead: it shows paratroopers of the Folgore division at El Alamein. These are the guys that fascinate me the most concerning the war in North Africa.

Hessian helmet covers in wear
Hello,
Grant you got some NICE stuff! Beautiful DAK mannequins.
I've attached a photo of "Hessian" helmet covers in wear. Taken from Bender & Law, Uniforms, "Organization and History of the Afriokakorps", p. 191.

William, Lenny, Tony, Christopher, and Mark,
Thank you for the nice replies about my collection so far. As I said before, i am new to this field and might be needing your advice or expertise from time to time. Christopher, I have seen a few of the shots before of hessian being worn on helmets. Since I do not own a DAK helmet, i thought that by covering a regular Army helmet would be fine , until i find a real one. Anyway, thats all for now, thanks agains for the replies.

Grant,
You've gathered all of those wonderful items in only 3 months?????
WoW!!! That is quite amazing and a wonderful collection.
I don't have the funds and contacts which you obviously have so I must admit that I am a little jealous as it has taken me years to put the collection together. If you ever decide to part with any of those tunics (and Fred doesn't want his back), Please let me know.
Great contribution to Jean-Loup's thread.
Mark
P.S. I love those modified Jump trousersLast edited by Mark Gibson; 11-26-2007, 06:18 AM.

My most sincere thanks to those who posted their beautiful Dak collectibles.
I enjoyed any single shot. That's still, and will always remain, one of my favourite area of collecting, even if I have been forced to focus on something else. My contribution to this thread is thus quite limited, for most of old stuff is now gone.
I have posted them already once, but... Really I have not much else to show!
Please keep on showing your Dak stuff!
Daniele
