no3 apologies for the blurred eagle, I dont think this is the origional one to the helmet as you can see pin marks from another badge on the inside going in a different direction, I also would have thought it would have and alloy/steel eagle rather than a brass one?

        Thanks

You mean one like this tan example...untouched insignia, early Panzer Grenadier boards, sewn down lower pockets....not that I would sell it. I'm not having a go at Chris, I just couldn't believe the final price of the tunic, but they are scarce and more and more collectors are desperately 'wanting' one.
            Have a good weekend.

              1st pattern DAK restoration

Removed the cuff title and found a very clearly defined dark shadow where a folded Afrikakorps c.t. had been.

The reapplied folded Afrikakorps cuff title placed squarely over the dark shadow.

                      1st pattern DAK restoration

                      Hello,

I've removed the eagle and cuff title. The eagle was reapplied with the method suggested and utilizing old cotton thread of the correct color. Fortunately, I had a folded Afrikakorps cuff title which worked pretty well too.

Very pleased to finally have a large 1st pattern NCO's tunic with early matching DAK boards. I thank everyone for their suggestions and recommendations.

                      Best Regards,

                      Christopher

My very little and poor contribution to this DAK thread.

                            Ace,
WONDERFUL! It is these small items that make up the whole picture of the period. I have not found anything like that here in New Zealand, (yet!).
                            Nice, Very Nice!
                            Regards,

Ok, Here is my last of my DAK stuff. This grouping I have owned for quite some time now. It is to Luftwaffe General Major Carl Kochy. General Kochy was the last General in Tunisia and surrendered the remaining German forces to the Allies. he is pictured in Brian L. Davis's book on Luftwaffe volume 2. General Kochy is on the left, wearing the sheepskin jacket and pith helmet. When I contacted Kochy's daughter , she pointed that out to me that Mr. Davis had it listed wrong in the caption. Anyway, here is a basic shot of his grouping. Enjoy. Grant
