Guidance sought
I'd be the first that my knowledge in the Blood Order field is limited but I'm baffled by the apparent discrepancy in quality between the two Orders pictured here (both in this thread).
[IMG][/IMG]
Look at the definition, the crisp execution of the one on the left compared to the right.
Look at how, on the left, the steps lead neatly up to the central plinth, they don't on the one on the right.
The balustrade on the right is just so vague, more so than dould be expected by simple handling over the years.
The left-hand lion on the right-hand medal is also so poorly defined that it's lost a leg.
I'm slightly more familiar with British campaign medals but again, in that field, definition/crispness shouldn't be expected to vary so much. I hope I'm not putting any noses out of joint and I guess the quality of pics may be an issue but this genuinely suprises me.

Hi Stewart, The order 1420 is a fairly worn example ,so much so it has lost a couple of grammes in weight in fact. Believe me I had this one under very close scrutiny under a 20x loop. It is original, just more worn than the example you have compared it to. I concluded it has been polished much over its life span and this has softened some of the detals. It is very soft silver after all.
Don't worry about putting noses out of joint. They are valid observations, but in this case I am very happy to have this piece in my collection

Hi Erich, His is one Blood Order I would really love to own. Never heard of it in a collection?
Here is an image I had never seen before until this week.....
