    Hey Simon,

You must tell me about Beltring in a PM. Thanks for posting that POW Camp pic. My German is a bit rusty but I believe the back states " This is our Camp in Rumini you can imagine how many prisoners are here" Glad to see the Fallschirmjaeger thread finally got pinned. I haven't posted any pics there lately but will do so in the near future....right now I have this and another thread going. Plus I plan on starting a third once I'm a bit more organized. Talk to you later Cheers! - Bill

Here are some pics courtesy of Mike Pruett.

      Photo 8.
Jeep of 30th Division has struck a mine during advance past Haulthausen
with other 9th U.S. Army units. German prisoners clear it from the
roadway to open path for Armor.
Comment: Photo dated 27 March 1945. Not the German prisoner on the far
left appears to wear a Sturmartillerie jacket while the one to his right
wears an M44 tunic. The soldier third from the left appears to be
      wearing civilian shoes!

Thanks for sharing your photos with us all .

Here is a group for ragged and wounded POW's in Fredeberg, Germany (notice the negative was reversed so the insginia is reversed to the wrong side) I spot a paratrooper amongst the group.

                      Manuel,

Welcome to the thread. just curious is that an original photo or a russian copy? Yes...many German POW's died in the hell of work camps, mines...dying of starvation and disease. A good portion being held in captivity up into the 1950's. Good example are those captured in Stalingrad...over 200,000 and only around 6,000 survived to make it back to Germany. A few American run POW camps had problems toward the end of the War where some camps were way overcrowded and German Soldiers were dying of of exposure and disease.

Here is a French run German POW camp...location unknown

                                Hello Dieter,

Welcome to this thread. Very interesing shot of POW's in your hometown. Do you have any history on who fought there...US and German...I do believe Moenchen-Gladbach wasn't very a very big town back then. Thanks for sharing - Bill
