          Judging from the photographic evidence presented on this thread alone it appears that the M-44 tunics in captured Italian Army gabardine were more plentiful than one would think. Here is a recent acquisition:

                              Agreed, m-44s have slightly larger collars (with no hook and eye catch) and generally unscalloped pocket flaps and triangular breast eagles. In the last year of the war regulations were relaxed so that many soldiers wore their earlier issue tunics with the collars open, sometimes giving the appearance of an m-44.
