    Great thread, but...

I've never seen af photo of the M-44 worn "at the front" so to speak, all photos show them being worn by troops in the rear area or are studio portraits. Judging from the combat awards displayed in many of the photos posted in this thread, the M-44 must have seen some action?

About a week ago I found a bit of color footage on youtube showing an M44 in wear, I will try to track it down and post a link tomorrow.
This thread has really lit off and has many more photos then I thought would be shown, great job and lets keep if going!

Here is the link, the footage is very short! the M44 can be seen at 2:53 of this decent color footage.

              Thanks, Ohlau and Weissner

No doubt there, M-44's at the front :-)

I dunno about the colours in the YouTube clip, looks computer colourized to me but there's a also Gebirgsjäger in a camosmock in the same clip (seated on the ground)

Nice footage but not original color films; these contain compilations of different Wocheschau newsreels. Postwar edited with color.

This is a picture of Grossdeutschland in late '44, the guy on the far left appears to be wearing an M44.

The RKT is Hans-Dieter von Basse, so this is probably his I./Panzerfusilier Reg. GD, which was a SPW Bataillon at this time. That's why some of the guys wear grey Sturmartillerie uniforms, which were used by SPW units during the last year or so of the war.
