Thanks for all the kind compliments - for the seller it was just a normal WH-foto...

Yes, he is wearing 2 HJ-badges, the lover one is the "HJ snipers badge" (he won a shooting competition).

IMO the piping is black for pioneer troops - compare to the black of the cokarde on his M43 cap.

Good call on the black! That photo is for sure a keeper!

Really nice shot of the Italian gabardine M-44; it's interesting to see that he is wearing a standard wool M-43 cap rather than a gabardine one (they did make them).

Hi isaluke, that is a very nice photo however IMO it is an M43 tunic with the rare M44 printed type eagle sewn on, it has a dark boarder around the eagle and Swastika wreath with dark color inside the wreath. this late Eagle was used on M44's although uncommon, the Bevo type eagle is more often seen than the printed. and I think there are a few members, one being Glenn that have this printed or the Bevo M44 eagle on an M43.

if you compare your collar to the other M44's in this thread you will see the cut is much smaller than an M44 collar, the use of a printed eagle dates the tunic I beleive late 1944 or 45.

Great photo due to the use of the eagle, thank's for showing it!

                  Best Regards!

                  Kevin

I think you should start a new thread in the Heer uniform section showing this photo, it would be of interest to us uniform collectors due to the use of the printed eagle.

Agree that it is a M43 tunic but the eagle looks (to me) like a standard bevo type folded as a trapazoid and not the printed type.
