    Truck

    Hi there,

    This is a hard one, due to not many details are clear in the photo, but I'm 99% sure it is British, and probably one of the following;

    AEC Marshall 644
    Leyland Retriever
    Thornycroft Tartar

    Cheers
    Steve

Photo #2 is definitely a Heinkel He 111.

            Andreas:

Your vehicle is a Fiat, either an 1100 or a 1500, most differences were in small details. If this helps, OK, if you need more specifics, let me know.

                Hi Bill

Seen this type of vehicle before somewhere but cannot remember where.
Has it been built on a light truck chassis?

                Cheers

                    Hi guys:

Not sure of Larry's vehicle yet but Javi's is a Standard Heavy Passenger Car, most of which were built by Horch. Here is a kfz 18 version.

                      Larry:

I don't know if this scan will work well, lousy photos and very small in the book "Die Kraftfahrzeuge der Polizie und des Bundesgrenzschutzes"

Of the two, I think the Dux looks closest to your example.

                        Hi Bill

Thanks very much. I am sure that is the car. So this was specifically made as a police vehicle?

                        Cheers

                          Hi Larry:

The coachwork, yes, it seems to be specific for this type of
"Raid" vehicle whereby the Police could move rather large amounts of men into an area rather rapidly.

The chassis, as far as I know, were mainly ordinary commercial light to medium trucks supplied to the body builders as a chassis/cowl configuration.

I have posted this on many forums, perhaps this one as well, that the "Raid" vehicle as well as the "Water Cannon" police vehicles seem to be very specific to the UK/European area.

Our Police also do not use shields nor batons/wooden sticks as I see on the telly. Sadly, they do use guns from time to time but I get the feeling our civil disturbances don't measure up to those in Europe/the Middle East/Asia.

                          Just some random thoughts.

                            Thanks Bill.

I thought the car was built on a light truck chassis because of its length.
Also the wheels in my photo are like those seen on trucks.

                            Cheers

You are right. It´s a Wanderer W 11 with an engine of 3 litres and 60 hp, built from 1937 to 1941
