What a nice compilation of informative pictures and collectors knowledge this thread is!
Thanks to all contributors involved - I´ve learned a lot reading through all the posts!

An astounding little "precious" has been sold there for an astounding amount of money, and I thought it might fit in here pretty well - a contemporary picture with the "badge in wear" included...

Here is where it gets interesting. Notice the reverse is padded and you can see 4 pins (possibly a 5th in the center) and a maker mark???

This one is a repro sold by GWM in Pennsylvania. The mark has their initials and town. Made for reenactor use.
