                            What a nice compilation of informative pictures and collectors knowledge this thread is!
                            Thanks to all contributors involved - I´ve learned a lot reading through all the posts!
                            In turn I would like to share with you - in lack of own possessions - a link to a recent auction on german ebay:

                            An astounding little "precious" has been sold there for an astounding amount of money, and I thought it might fit in here pretty well - a contemporary picture with the "badge in wear" included...

                                This one is a repro sold by GWM in Pennsylvania. The mark has their initials and town. Made for reenactor use.
