I bought it and returned it. It purports to be a Juncker but it is the only solid Juncker I ever saw. It is the only solid MGSS badge I ever saw. For that matter it is the only solid badge from WW1 I ever saw. The pins on the back are not the same as other Juncker badges either. I finally found one other posted on GMIC. But if it is real and Juncker started making solid badges then where are the rest of them? I wanted it to be real but in the end I was not convinced. Perhaps it is an early copy.

Just of of curiosity, is it known if these badges were ever made as " replacements" or "private purchase" pieces?

They were phased out after the war so I doubt that was necessary.

Here's a little something that fits in with the theme of this thread. It is a Stahlhelm Bund specialty skill identifier badge. It was made for wear on the organization's jacket so people could tell what your specialty was. I believe there are 8 or so different ones.

Here's a little something that fits in with the theme of this thread. It is a Stahlhelm Bund specialty skill identifier badge. It was made for wear on the organization's jacket so people could tell what your specialty was. I believe there are 8 or so different ones.

FYI, Don. There were actually 19 specialty sleeve badges, worn on the lower left sleeve (more accurately badges that referred to the vet's branch of service during the war: e.g. infantry, Jaeger, machine-gunner, cavalry, artillery, pioneer, air force, navy, submarine etc.) + 1 additional badge for the Freikorps - specifically, Regiment Reinhardt. With the exception of the infantry badge (the 1st one below) they're all pretty hard to find.
