    I agree

It did so last night too. With a minute or so to go I tried to place a bid and was told that my bid had been blocked, that the item I was bidding on was "NO LONGER AVAILABLE". It was the case that you could remove an item from the auction at anytime,it is your item to do what you wish with it until the hammer goes down as such.Items used to be listed as "I have the right to end this auction at anytime as item is listed elsewhere",mind you don't see that now. I sent a message to the seller asking if he ended the listing,no reply as yet.
If bids were blocked because of several bidders bidding at once then surely hundreds of items must undersell,I know a lot of users who leave bids with seconds left.Surely it is in Ebays best interest to have the highest bid on the book win for the seller.

Congratulations to the top bidder if you frequent here. I hope the seller honours the sale for your sake but wont be surprised if he doesn't.

            father's name

From looking at the other things the seller has sold, the name on the Kit Bag is Major Field,he states in an answered question that this is his Father.
I note also that the Pegasus patch looks to be attached to a cut up BD that has a Majors crown attached, surely he didn't did he!!

Ivan, I wondered the same when I saw that as well...but surely not

Rob, I have no doubt the offers have been made all afternoon. But for the buyer that struck it lucky I hope he actually gets it.

There is something odd about the auction, it started 22-Jun-09 23:14:38 BST and ended 29-Jun-09 22:49:42 BST. That is nearly half an hour less than 7x24 hours.

                  my very point

                  Hi luc,
                  My very point!!
The seller bottled it or got an offer he could not refuse.I watched it count down to a minute to go to auction end,but as you point out the item was no longer available at that time.Somewhat strange that it was still shown as available.....Where are the Ebay Police when you need them?

                    what about this ebay item

Could this be a WW11 beret,I think the badge is not but could the beret have a chance.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=380133083211

I'm picking he had someone he knew place the last bid a bit earlier try to provoke some bidding but as a safety measure shorten the auction if the bidding didn't look like it was getting high enough.

He could of saved him self a lot of stress by just placing a reserve or even a buy now.

I also tried to get that beret for the connection of the officer with Pegasus bridge plans...I put a very high bid on my sniper but was impossible!!

In my years of collecting I have seen many rare battledress cut up for the badges, some by the family because they thought it was a bit dirty or mothy, others by old time badge collectors who thought it took up too much room and 'anyway I only wanted one set of insignia'.

I don't think it is possible to end an item with bids on with less than 12 hours left to run.

JFK shooting, the Bermuda Triangle, the moon landings and now this beret. I guess we'll never know about some things.
