      Hi,

i'm sure that many here will be interested by some actual facts on the identification of Adolf Hitler dental remains.

Hugo Blaschke : was the dentist of Hitler, Eva Braun, Bormann, Göring, Himmler and many other VIPs of the 3rd Reich. With a few other relatives of Hitler, Blaschke was sent to Berchtesgaden before the fall of Berlin in Paril 1945. Caught on May 20, 1945 by the US Army. Despite being convicted to 10 years of prison at Nüremberg, was released in late 1948.
While in prison, Blaschke made a full report on Hitler dentition in November-December 1945. After the war, he made by memory another report on Bormann dentition when his crane was found in December 1972.

Käthe Heusermann : was the dentist assistant of Hitler. She refused to escape to Berchtesgaden, and was one of the many women unfortunately raped after the fall of Berlin. She was caught by the Smersh on May 9, 1945. She will testify that the various teeth and dental bridges presented were the ones of Hitler and Braun. She will be released only in 1954 after the death of Staline.

Fritz Echtmann : was the dental technician who did many dental bridges for Hitler and Braun.
Was caught by the Smersh on May 9, 1945. Like Heusermann, he will positively identify Hitler dental remains, and will make an additional 9-page report for the Smersh. Released in 1954.

When the soviet forces arrived in the Chancellery on May 2, they found out various bodies, the family Goebbels, Blondie and Wulf, supposed Hitler & Braun bodies and other ones.
All were sent secretly in the field-hospital N°496, located in Berlin-Buch.
Full reports of the autopsies of the 13 bodies were made.
Only the dental remains of Hitler were showed to Echtmann and Heusermann, including a bridge for Braun.

For political reason, Staline refused to make any official report of the discovery of the bodies and dental remains of Hitler and Braun.

Elena Rzhevskaya, interpreter at the Smersh, was one of the secret unit that had to secure the body of Hitler. The unit was able to catch Echtmann and Heusermann, and to find medical records of Hitler in the Chancellery. Many VIPs and guards from the bunker were caught and made testimonies of the suicide and burning of Hitler and Braun, in the east and in the west.

In the west, Hugh Trevor-Roper made a great book (“The Last Days Of Adolf Hitler”, 1947), which was unfortunately missing the dental proofs and the confirmation that the bodies were found.

In the east, the first book would be the one of Rzhevskaya, published in 1965 the book “Berlin May 1945” in which she explain almost everything.

One year later, Lew Besymenski, a russian journalist published in West Germany the book “Der Tod Des Adolf Hitler”. It included the full reports of the autopsies of the 13 bodies, and for the first time, pictures of the dental remains of Hitler.

The problem is that at that date, no medical records of Hitler including X-ray images existed in the west.

So in 1971, two norvegian dentists started to work on the case, Reidar Sognnaes and Ferdinand Strom. They were able to find the full report made by Blaschke in prison (late 1945) and finally found some X-ray images of Hitler taken from fall 1944. In 1972, they will make the big annoucement, before publishing the full report a year later (“The Odontological Identification of Adolf Hitler”.

Their work will be a bit more difficult to confirm the dental remains of Braun, but with the help of the report of Etchmann, they will be able to positively identify her in 1981 (the story is a bit complicated).

You can find a lot of infos on the net, most of his story was compiled by Xavier Riaud, a famous french dentist in “39-45 Magazine”, issue #289 (May 2011). You can also find it online in French.

          Great fun show

While watching I hear the participants repeat quite often, "If" If Hitler escaped How? Where did he go? IF IF IF....it's a fun adventure and speculation...why some here are so upset and keep distorting the point of the show is beyond me..Enjoy the bunker tours, the interviews and the fun..get over yourself "experts"

The last show was entertainment. Special ops mission, frogmen in the water to scout a mystery lake front villa that turns out is abandoned but for one old caretaker lol.

What bothers me is that the ill informed such as the new generations and non militaria collector and the history world might start believing this show's info. I mean top CIA, Special forces and manhunters couldn't be wrong.

It's not love or hate, it's the curiosity of it that's all. And it happens to be about a character in history that is of interest to some of us.

Nice info Vince, so no actual dental records or x-rays have made there way on the web? Hard to tell what's what on your visual.

Shows like this tend to pull one in like Rubber Neckers on the Freeway looking at an accident. You hate to think what you may see if you look ... but you can't help but not look because your morbid curiosity won't allow it. That includes me as well.

I will never forget this.... when I was a kid.....I am 70 now almost every 3 to 5 months a year in the POLICE GAZETTE Magazine....there would be sightings of Hitler all over the world with pics. of him and with other high ranking Nazis. The pics. they had were always very hazy and they would use real WW2 pics. of Hitler and the other Nazis mixed in.This went on for many years...every time the Gazette pulled this BS they would sell out.

The locations viewed in Berlin are of some interest.

X-ray images are far less easy to use, even more for non-professionals. As said, some are in the US archives, other in the russian ones.
But many are available online, including this one, which is clearly showing all the teeth (especially the four incisors from the mandibule).
Alexander Autographs sold a few years ago some copies of one US report. Very interesting lot (lot 181, AA 47, May 9, 2012).

Only teeth 23 to 26 (+ tooth 21) were still original and living teeth. All the other are or partial or removed and replaced by metallic and porcelain parts.

Leonard Nimoy, in search of. I loved that show as a kid.

                            In search of Eva.

All this speculation has been happening since '45, but Hunting Hitler takes it to incredibly stupid levels.

BTW Leonard knew the truth, he was there

                            Cheers,

Thanks, the clear photos in that link proves without any doubt the dental x-rays match the teeth held by the Russkies.

And that is where the problem lies....In a society that not only allows but encourages free speech and open expression, any body can come up with whatever concoction they so desire....Factual accounts are not needed since using "creative license" is what helps make a product salable to it's consumer....The price we pay for living in a democracy, but it's a small one when one weighs the options....Bodes
