I have a 41 dated coconut but unfortunately the straps are damaged and some part is even cut off. Though the coconut itself is in good shape

Take a look at post #185. I have 41,42,43,45 dated coconuts in my collection.

Can't view picture is it one of a coconut in a cover...lol? Has anyone ever seen a 41 dated coconut? I had not till I bought one off ebay today (it was a buy it now). The pictures are dark but its a 41 dated HRE without the harness. Will get pics up when I get it in the mail. Does anyone have a 41 dated harness out there that needs a 42 or 43 dated one? Was 1941 the first year they made these coconuts or was there a 40, also was 44 the last year dated on the canteens or has anyone seen a 45. I have until now only seen 42's and 43's.

Hello All, I did not know if the canteen section was for an archive or not.
But I have this canteen and the body is marked what appears to be
SMM 45 and it is painted steel. The cup is marked SMM 44 and the leather on it is brown, the leather does not appear to be marked. The cloth cover has BB marked by the inside snaps, and the outside snaps are black painted plain.
I was asked to post this too this archive, some threads work different. And I did not know if I was supposed to post it here if I was asking for information on it. I actually had never seen a SMM 45 canteen body and did not know for sure if it was authentic. But after all the PM's and responses, I would say you guys know it is a real period piece.

I own exactly the same Canteen. Those SMM45 Canteens are a unique thing in the World of Wehrmacht Canteens

Here is one I just picked up earlier today at a local auction. What can you tell me about this canteen? The neck of the canteen is marked WAL43.
