    All this is so sad but we have to thank Owen for having had the guts to challenge the mainstream opinion on these fake camo pieces for several years until we started opening our eyes and seeing the truth

      Probably Lorenzo would have gotten away with it for more years if he kept the supply of these covers lower instead of being so greedy.

          The owner of that museum is an extremely sharp collector and has rejected the fakes being offered to him. Now we see how this disinformation game is being played. Don't buy from the source we are discussing, and what you do own is declared suspect by fans of the source. Disgraceful.

            Yeah I would never buy from the source of these covers from the thread..

            I just posted some covers as I was looking at my pics from the Ardennes.. I know they are not great pics as I was taking them of the displays not the covers... He has some really nice stuff in there and the other one in Melmedy museum..

            I mite have one more cover in my pics I'll try and find it... Some great set ups there..

            Also I'm just adding a few covers I seen..

              I've just stumbled on an old thread from 2006 that you guys should find very interesting. I did!

              Firstly, I would suggest that the cap exhibits the same distinctive sewing and sewing thread as observed previously in this thread. Hopefully Owen and others can confirm this?

              Secondly, you'll notice that Lorenzo remarks that in his opinion, the cap is a reproduction.

              However, GN58 then drops this bombshell and I quote.

              "This "blurred Edge" Camo Cap Has Been Sold By Lorenz As Original To A Camo Ss Collector Who Sold It To Me!"

              Lorenzo then does some serious back peddling. Well, read for yourself.

                Some time ago I was told by a British dealer, how, when SS zelts were readily available, they were cutting them up to make caps and helmet covers in quantity and that he wouldn't trust any of the items currently for sale, as he thought most were fakes. It was said with a laugh and a big smile and his final comment was "we made a fortune". I was shocked, 1, at his admission and 2, that "they" would cut up good SS zelts.
                Another dealer told me how he thought 90% of the German items we buy are reproductions or have been altered post ww2, be, it helmets, tunics, etc. I suppose the realist in me thinks "where does all this stuff come from?" We all want that extra special piece and we all want "an original", so some times people are ready to ignore their instincts and believe in an item.
                If you consider the story of the hoard of SS helmet covers with an open mind, would you buy one? A 100 rare SS helmets covers, discovered in post war ammo boxes, stored in a post war barn.

                These revelations continually arise and we are all still taken by surprise.
