im with jon on these, surely any living ss soldier married in the period would of mentioned the existence of these? i love the look of them, but at 2,500 plus for one,its to much of a gamble, no offence to the beleivers

It's probable that some were made post-war based on originals after the notoriety gained by Lumsden's books. I believe that the ones with the narrower runes and darker wood are the genuine ones. I am suspicious of the lighter colored ones that look more like cheap plywood and I don't like the ones with the fat runes.
Another waf member here has one with a dead ss man's dedication on the front - who was killed in Russia in 1941. I think this is the key to the puzzle absent a period photo. I think that photo is on the other thread of that particular box.

Anyway, for all those who refuse to use the search function: I remember Robin felt the caskets were not made for each couple just getting married. He felt they were kept by a higher type functionary SS leader who used the same standard (so-called)"MK box" for numerous SS marriages-over and over.
Years back I pointed out how so many boxes seem to have come from the U.K.
There are a few different rationals for this put out on WAF. But nothing is proven via documentation, as said many times before-for years and years we dont have the proof.
