So how many SS men, dead or alive would have even given a crap about some SS carved casket at their wedding day - I'm sure they had other thoughts on their minds.

Plenty as they put very high value on culturally significant items during the period and especially in the SS. It would have been at the centre piece of the ceremony,if it was there at all and this I do not believe.

It's probable that some were made post-war based on originals after the notoriety gained by Lumsden's books. I believe that the ones with the narrower runes and darker wood are the genuine ones. I am suspicious of the lighter colored ones that look more like cheap plywood and I don't like the ones with the fat runes.

Another waf member here has one with a dead ss man's dedication on the front - who was killed in Russia in 1941. I think this is the key to the puzzle absent a period photo. I think that photo is on the other thread of that particular box.

How many dead SS men were getting married?

Unfortunately he couldnt remember (his brain was in poor health), but it was sitting in front of his mirror - flanked by framed fotos of his loved ones - since the war, used to store small items.

not really Johnny, but you can get creative.. either what it was meant for (wedding edition Mein Kampf) or just about anything small enough

My quote was obviously mis-understood by you. Dead - meaning now dead, but was alive at the time of their wedding day, and those that are still alive today.

Here's one that was offered for £300.00 last year, maybe someone here bought it. Seller noted the book was sourced separately

Steve, thanks for posting these photos.

Maestro, nice photo! But please, please stop hoarding casks! The SD will be at your doorstep in no time for such crimes against the reich

And here are more photos of that fake cask....easy to see the differences.....

But, the only proof i guess is that "Period" photo, if ever found.

Robin mentioned this more than once on WAF...these threads must still be here....one just has to go searching all the old threads.
Anyway, for all those who refuse to use the search function: I remember Robin felt the caskets were not made for each couple just getting married. He felt they were kept by a higher type functionary SS leader who used the same standard (so-called)"MK box" for numerous SS marriages-over and over.

Years back I pointed out how so many boxes seem to have come from the U.K.
There are a few different rationals for this put out on WAF. But nothing is proven via documentation, as said many times before-for years and years we dont have the proof.
