Jerry and Bob ,I will e-mail the backs as soon as I get a chance photographing or scanning the backs. So send me PM's

Bob's ITALIEN cuff title was I believe worn by the SS German Command Italien and not worn by the Italiane SS Division

I just changed over from a PC to an Apple so I am still navigating programs so the backs may be a bit.

Dennis, I believe you are correct on the Italien cuff title. I know of no evidence the division was ever provided with a cuff title.

I totally agree with Dennis and Bob about the use of this cuff title!
Bob, the first skull is the one you can see on the front of the SS Italian cap I just posted. As soon as possible I'll post another one which is on a shirmutze...
        Lorioli skull is really nice!

The tabs are Officers unissued that I picked up with the vet aquired single red board, chevron and eagle.
The metal eagle is an original the same as Bob's and the wire eagles I have no history on other than I got them out of Italy in the late 70's. They appear Italian construction

I have seen quite a few Italian bulliuon eagles and never bought them, because they did not look 'right' to me. However, I like every one I have seen on this thread.

Dennis, I am very impressed with you fine collection of Italian SS insignia.

Hi guy’s great thread on Italian SS insignia, Bob’s Italian cufftitle is very rare and looks like is BeVo-Like style. I also agree that the Italian cufftitle was worn by SS German command. As always great items you have there Dennis.
Attached are a few related items from my collection. On the background are two interesting documents from the SS Race and Resettlement Office of an Italian Unterscharführer Luciano Magugliani who was attached to a SS Medical Unit Amtsgruppe-D and wanted permission to marry a German girl. I have also attached a nice RSI skull although not SS related it could have possible been worn by SS members since they wore an assorted types of clothing, I hope you enjoy it.

I'm very satisfied to have opened this thread! It's developing and becoming very interesting!
Bob is right, the vast majority of Italian SS bullion eagles on the market are fakes, that's for granted getlemen. It's not easy at all to find an original one even because after a few months Italian SS changed their insignia on black. Moreover red insignia, have to be analized with Italian construction criteria, since they have been made mostly in Italy.

I must agree with Francesco. This thread has been wonderful and very informative. It is threads like this that revitalize us to seek out the memorabilia of those brave soldiers, from all the volunteer units, who fought with gallantry and spirit.

I thank all those who have posted for the sharing of information. This is the epitome of what the forums are meant to be.

Well, Greg, I have been waiting for you to post this collar tab. It is one of the very few I believe are original.

Bob, Thanks for the compliments from you. I am glad your enioying .
Greg, great tab I really like the construction and the look.

In my humble opinion, I believe the red was worn a lot longer then some people believe. I also believe the red and the black were worn by some units concurrently. The Italian SS was never a cohesive Division,Legion or even Brigade and Units were stationed all throughout Northern Italy and never as one.
Furthermore from the looks of thier equipment and Uniforms it doesn't appear that oufitting them with insignia ,much less any type uniformity was a priority by thier Command. I have seen photos dated during the same period and overlapping still wearing the red and black by different Units.
In conlusion when they were given the order that they could change to black I don't think it happened that quickly. The Troopers of " Vendetta "being the first to have the honor for thier actions at Nettuno.
On a side note although the Italian SS was under German Command and if you ever studied Photos from the RSI period !943-45. The RSI Soldiers, Sailors and Marines both National or Political were anything ,but uniform in thier appearance by both design and choice. A very strange period for Italians under Arms.

This is one I picked up many many years ago.....don't even remember where or when I got it but it was probably something I got from a vet.

If you notice the photo Tony posted the Italian SS Trooper is also wearing the Red boards and eagles
