Skeptacism is healthy and encouraged, but If one was to touch up a decal - they would tape off a bit more than and inch away from the decal.

If I had the money I'd buy this in a heartbeat!!

This last post kind of sums it up!
I am genuinely sorry if I offended anyone with my question, I am only here to learn !

      My apologies again,Toby.

This is a very sad thread for serious helmet collectors! Healthy skepticism is fine and I think should be encouraged by all. However, when someone who has no clue what they are talking about makes negative comments on a high end helmet, kills the helmet! Nicks chances of selling this superb helmet have been hurt do to lack of knowledge. Very sad example of the negative side of forums.
Good Luck on a killer helmet Nick!!!
          Best Wishes,
          Bob
PS- I do not know Nick super well although we have corresponded many times over the years. Nicks name is synonymous with "killer helmets"! Nick has some helmets that I would trade my life and more for!!! All he has is top shelf!!!

Sure, why not since you put it that way. Why are there no black flecks of paint on the split pin?

Pin is much darker than the helmet. This why they may not be as visible. I looked closely at that photo and I think I can see few of them on the pin head.

You received a couple, and if that's not convincing, not sure what to tell you. Personally, I feel this is either inexperienced collectors trying to score points here or just a cheap shot at trying to sabotage the sale and I can assure you, it won't work. An experienced collector knows what he's buying.

Samir people are allowed their opinions, even if they are not as "experienced" as you. Would you prefer he just hit the edit button and removed a post where he got things wrong?
For what its worth I dont see how an air brush that can create the large black spots would also be capable of creating the fine bleeding on the runes that seem to be causing some concern. I do however remember that black painted SS helmet that was bought from the family and stripped back to being a green DD helmet and the swastika on that was touched up if I remember correctly so it does happen, not in this case though and I doubt that anyone with the cash to buy a helmet like this would lack the balls to make their own mind up about this lovely helmet.

No one has established conclusivley that those black dots are overspray.

It could be years of fly poop from sitting on a shelf for years.

Don... thanks for bringing this one back up. It's quite startling now almost 4 years later how much the perception has swung. Those who were 'for' not pointing fingers at all, based on what the perception may have been, but it really does beg to question just what stands as staunchly original can quickly change when new details come to light. Quite a black mark for the hobby.

I am not trying to point fingers or embarrass anyone - this is a perfect example of why people need to do their own research and continue to educate themselves. I've been burned before - many times - and that was mostly on Heer items - SS is a magnitude of hurt deeper. I think that is part and parcel of any hobby, but I hope that people will see these threads and realize that you can never stop learning,

I think Don just about everyone has changed their mind in light of Doug B's revelations.
