I think its good that we have a few sherlocks that dears to post pictures with their observations , there is actually no need to at once to question their knowledge because it scare people away., this has been a great diskussion about the helmet.

Maybe its a good helmet, i jumped on the "bad bandwagon" because it was what i saw with my eyes , the bleed of party decal and the black spots.

Now we have a word that is good, and not a single picture of its twin decals, if you know these helmets surely you must have picture of its twin decals?

Can anyone show another runic decal that matches this one?

Or a party shield that "bleeds" black like this one?

And no, i dont have much knowledge on Ss helmets ( so no need for flaming) , but im sure those pics would kill all the doubts. (alteast for me it would)

Are you looking for original NS "Champagne" SS decals or decals that mimic the wear of the Nick's decal? There are plenty of "Champagne" SS decals to search. I really do not know what the question is? All decals wear differently causing different characteristics. Just do a search of all the different SS decal types on how they wear different, smudge different, had a different application (more lacquer, less lacquer, no lacquer, different types of lacquer, crooked, left finger prints, etc.)

Apart from the decals themselves "smudging," what is everyone's justification for this picture? I haven't really seen any good, logical explanations for why there is black spotting everywhere except around the decal. Let's stop calling it a "fake" for the time being and try to deduce how this may have happened. I am no expert myself, but I do notice that it looks like it was taped off as aforementioned. Please teach us with less experience.

Decal looks good to my rookie eyes, but maybe it has been masked around and touched up causing the spots?

But in the end its still the same decal.

Im looking for another picture of the same decal, especially party shield where the black paint bleeds.

If its so normal to see then it should be no problem showing me one.

            Daniel.

Interesting thread. I use Iwata airbrushes. There's no way a serious faker would allow this sort of overspray. This has been caused by something else. In fact the spotting is very similar to my KM M40 which has suffered fine white paint. Barely noticeable until you start using a magnifying glass.

I know I have had and found many a helmet with black, white and even red paint on them. These helmets were in the garage in the back of car trunks and even in the attic.I would find them like that all the time. The bleeding decal I have only seen once and the decal had been touched up with paint by whoever.I am not saying they are not out there ..........I just have never seen one other than the one that had been touched up.

                  Can anyone justify the paint?

OK I'm ready for some flak with my following comment and I do not wish to offend anyone Here we go, to me, the damage on the decals look contrived. I get the impression that someone tried to knock them about and make them seem period ! I find it strange the damage/scrapes all seem to be the same depth, can someone explain this ?
Please be gentle with your replys Regards (sensitive) Toby.

To me those scratches look natural. They are in different size, shape and depth. Some have patina inside. As far as paint dots, some time ago I had a K98 that had a stock with similar paint dots. Like somebody mentioned before, the helmet could be in the area where something was sprayed. Tapelike effect could form from accidental shielding from something else.
I don't believe that any faker making high quality repro or touchup wouldn't clean any overspray.

Black overspray on the light green paint of the helmet, but none on the dark green rivet head.

Take a look at the close-ups at 200x Nick posted and tell me if you can get that result with paint ?

As I was saying, I wasn't referring to the supposed airbrush paint. I was referring to the overspray.

A ridiculous thread with still NO good justification for the overspray.
