Is this a different type of decal. Not picking fights just trying to learn. As a modeller this looks sprayed to me BUT it could well be part of the decal construction process, so all explanations will be helpful.
    yes different types of decals.

Legit decal but touched up by airbrush/spray paint perhaps. The two arguments don't have to be contradicting.

I thought I woke up this morning in bizarro world when I saw this thread and everyone agreeing to start. It's definitely good to question but this helmet is original.

I've noticed over the years these NS style decals can have a subtle hazy appearance along the edges for some reason. That's what you're seeing, not an airbrushed decal ....and not touched up either.

I for one will be relieved if this is the case. I've been drooling over that lid since it appeared on estand.

Now all I need to do is rob the bank to pay for it.

I thought the WAF is a discussion forum, and in a discussion forum things, in this case militaria, and here in detail, helmets, are discussed.
I wrote "it looks like"! If "champagne" decals look like that, OK, i searched here for some others, i think they look different!

But OK, if one must have been here since a few years and/or must have 1000 postings to have an opinion, it is how it is.
So i am crawling back in my cave of ignorance...

Nick, this was not against you or your helmet, it was just something i recognice!

As i wrote above, i thought this is discussion forum, but if everyone who don`t wrote what others want to hear is titled as " Sherlock Holmes" or something i learned my lesson!

            Best regards

ZAM, two of those decals you linked to aren't NS, one's a Pocher decal and the other an ET one.

Don't be harsh on yourself. Right or wrong, it's this kind of interrogation that makes estand what it is. Generally, a great place to buy and sell.

I think you are being a little touchy. A lot of use have been here a long time and either know each other personally or through the forums for many years. We know each others quirks and different personalities. I think it is natural to see someone new come in with such a strong controversial opinion and have people come off a little abrupt or short in their replies. We have seen several new posters come in and "stir the pot" or have an agenda. I think that is why there were some of the posts that came up.

Welcome to the forum. We would love to see some of your helmets.

The marks you see are from scuffs from over the years........ 70 years! Any real SS collector will tell you that's a genuine SS decal. I give it a BIG thumbs up!

Man,I was thinking the same thing if this helmet is bad I quit.... because I could not see anything wrong with it other than jmo the price. If this helmet is a fake they are getting too good for me.I am buying a ss helmet today that I have been after for 35 years and it comes from the vet.I will post the helmet when I get it.The bottom line I do not see anything wrong with that helmet.

                      Rock On

I can't believe people start threads like this without contacting me first. I will comment with microscope pictures asap
I'm always in for a good discussion.
For those that handled real NS decals they know better.

I was planning to put several close ups but in fact only this one should tell enough.

I really don't know how you guys think this could be airbrushed.

This is how originals should look like. I would like to invite everyone who can reproduce this.

What you are seeing on these decal photos at the start of this thread I believe, is the manufacturing process of how these transfers were made in ink layers. What you are viewing is where one one color was not completely and uniformly covered up, when the next overlying color was laid down.
