I thought I woke up this morning in bizarro world when I saw this thread and everyone agreeing to start. It's definitely good to question but this helmet is original.
I've noticed over the years these NS style decals can have a subtle hazy appearance along the edges for some reason. That's what you're seeing, not an airbrushed decal ....and not touched up either.

I wrote "it looks like"! If "champagne" decals look like that, OK, i searched here for some others, i think they look different!

But OK, if one must have been here since a few years and/or must have 1000 postings to have an opinion, it is how it is.
So i am crawling back in my cave of ignorance...
Nick, this was not against you or your helmet, it was just something i recognice!
As i wrote above, i thought this is discussion forum, but if everyone who don`t wrote what others want to hear is titled as " Sherlock Holmes" or something i learned my lesson!
Best regards

I think you are being a little touchy. A lot of use have been here a long time and either know each other personally or through the forums for many years. We know each others quirks and different personalities. I think it is natural to see someone new come in with such a strong controversial opinion and have people come off a little abrupt or short in their replies. We have seen several new posters come in and "stir the pot" or have an agenda. I think that is why there were some of the posts that came up.
Welcome to the forum. We would love to see some of your helmets.

The marks you see are from scuffs from over the years........ 70 years! Any real SS collector will tell you that's a genuine SS decal. I give it a BIG thumbs up!

I was planning to put several close ups but in fact only this one should tell enough.
I really don't know how you guys think this could be airbrushed.
This is how originals should look like. I would like to invite everyone who can reproduce this.
A lot of good info to be found on ss decals on walhalla
