being a poor man and needing the $ I, with sadness, arranged for it to go to a good home where I suspect it resides still: la collezione embree (which will mean something to Collectors of a Certain Age...)

This is not a trick question. I am a total novice on HBT, period. I think I learned enough from all of your posts on this thread to make a decision on my own about the wrap shown in post numbers #116 through #120. Whay say you??????

        Hbt

I have seen this wrap in person and it is a repro. The material is not original HBT. If you have handled enough original HBT the fake stuff is very easy to spot.

Agree with Sayle F (collar tabs are bad as well)

Richard, you might ask your friend who was paying the electric bill for the washing machine use for this "HBT" wrapper.

Richard, by these pictures I would say this is not an authentic piece from IIWW.
Not what I want to see on period HBT wraps.

There were plenty of opinions on the wrap that started this thread. It is a difficult piece at best. There is another HBT wrap now posted for judgement, which I thought was a pretty easy call, but perhaps not? Only four brave souls have said it was bad and not one calling it good. No more opinions?

I am late on the thread but would also say as noted by the others it is a repro, the collar tabs and skulls are IMO repros and based on the pictures the cloth looks like the common types of postwar HBT fabrics often seen. The tags and stamps are very easy to fake and should never influence if something is original or not, usually they are put on there to cover for the mint condition if a post War creation. I would not want this in my collection. Ask for a lcose up of the fabric interior and button holes that will help to float it or send it to Davy Jones Locker.

The wrap in photos 116 thru 120 appears to be a complete reproduction/fake to me as well. It is a good facsimile for a re-enactor but it lacks in every detail area that I can see what I would expect from a real one.

Well...I think it is fairly safe to say this wrap is a classic HBT fake. This wrap belongs to a fellow forum member. It was sold to him by another forum member. He did happen to mention to me on one occasion in the past, who sold him the wrap, well before this thread was ever started. There were also two pair of HBT pants of the same material purchased from the same seller, I feel they are bad as well. It's originality is no longer an issue to the owner of this wrap, he knows now. He does not wish any sort of recompense, it is water under the bridge, and that is his decision. End of story.

Well...almost. That wrap and the two pair of pants were sold by none other than QUOTE " You only have to handle an original to never look at another repro again." END QUOTE. Thats right, PANZER, Wade K, who visited this thread a few times.

In his defense, perhaps it was before his enlightenment that enabled him to write the above quote. We all make mistakes in judgment, but I just found this one rather too pertinent to this thread to let it lie.

. Sorry for laughing, but this relevation is quite amusing, not suprising though. Richard, can you please file this thread with the others along this line regarding this seller. There are quite a few. Maybe the buyers should form a support group.
