    Hello Alex, how are you?

EXTRAORDINARY and RARE group !! The pictures are also very good and it's easy to see all those beautiful details and the obviously high quality. Theu are so close to the originals. Look how the swastikas on all eagles and at the reverse of all Classes, are very well made and clearly visable. Also look how the eagles are perfectly attached to the cross of the decoration with almost no marks. That cheap bronze piece was not a "multi-piece"construction.
Notice how they shine like a polished gold bar like I said.

Alex, congratulation and if you ever will be willing to let this group go I'll buy it, please let me know.
    My very best regards,
    Chris.

P.S. I will be in Germany, München und Berlin from 14th January with Mr. Doyle for collectors and political meetings on both places.

      Hello Chris,

I'm glad you enjoyed this group of extraordinary Souval pieces. Indeed the quality of the German Order series is quite nice. Now the last one missing to complete the series is the Star of the German Order. Who knows, maybe I get lucky and find one. At least I was lucky enough to finally add the National Prize for Art & Science to the collection.

      Best regards,
      Alex

As far as all Souvals are concerned, these are the only ones I would ever spend a penny on

I like the Souval examples very much. I am still looking for the pinback version as well as a reverse disc with Hitler's signature to complete a damaged example I own.

It is indeed too bad and a shame that you have NOTHING usefull to this subject.

                    Question: Order of the Dead?

I have heard this award referred to as the "Order of the Dead". Why is that?

These were 'often' awarded posthumously, that's where the name comes from. People like Dr. Fritz Todt, Reinhard Heydrich, Adolf Hühnlein, Viktor Lutze etc got it after they they were dead. It was rarely awarded, and the majority of those who got it were already dead when they got it.

Andreas Thies sold a beautiful neck cross with swords yesterday for €34000 including commission.

It was the gilded bronze version -just as it should be.

Did he, really? I, automatically, assume that all items from Andreas Thies are FAKES. He does not have good reputation so your information does not mean much. I have seen over 20 German Orders on his auctions on the past 5 years....I have pictures and his catalogues downloaded.

However, since you stated that "just as it should be", I would very much like to hear your evidence or theory that you are right.

                          Thank you and good luck.

If interested members check out the other thread on German Orders they will see that one has recently been discovered in the US which was a souvenir brought back by a vet.

And its made of Tombak, "just as it should be"

Thank you for make me waste my time. I have asked HARD EVIDEBCE not Craig gotlieb like stories. ALL german Orders there are FAKES as I said and proved. May be you should read this thread all over again.

                                Speaking of Craig Gottlieb stories..

Admittedly, I have never studied the award in question but reading through this, sometimes painful thread, I stumbled upon your claim in regards to this awards finish and your claim that fire gilding can not be used on silver, only bronze (post 195, page 13).
That claim is of course outlandishly false and examples of fire gilded silver items are abundant if one cares to look. One to prove my point here: http://www.silvercollection.it/dictionaryvermeil.html
Speaking about facts or rather HARD FACTS as you like to refer to those Mr.Obermeyer- please, educate us and tell us exactly why silver can not be gilded for use on decorations.
                                Looking forward to it.

                                cheers

                                Matt
