Again, congrats my friend on this very historical Coburg grouping.

                  Erich,

Thank you for posting these pics. I really have you and this most excellent thread to have sparked my interest enough to seriously seek out a CB. I have watched it and your collection grow over the years and just could not resist when I saw Herr Eitel's grouping for sale.

I would also like to thank all of the other's that have contributed to the thread, in particular Br. James, Jon, JoeW, Coburg, Military, der-hasse-fee and others that I am sure I'm leaving out. Thank you all for unknowing helping me out! This is one of the best archival threads on the forum IMO.

                  Marcus

Last but certainly not least, I must say a huge THANK YOU to Hugh Brock, who sold me this grouping out of his personal collection.

Hugh is in hospice right now and I wish him all the best and that God receives him in comfort and love. God bless you Hugh.

Thanks Jon, let's just say that it was priced right for me to jump, though I did think about it for a few days first. I am not a high end collector and have never spent anything close to this before on my collection, so though it was a "bargain" of sorts when compared to other CBs, it wiped out my collecting budget out for a good while.

A stunner, congratulations ! Hope you got Eitel's other stuff as well ?

                          SMV,
                          This sure an impressive grouping.
I always find the repaired catch has more feeling tied to the recipient himself. Needless to say the badge itself is an attributed one.
                          Just excellent! Well Done.

Its a nice badge, surprised it sat at the SOS during the show as it was priced ok. The dealer who had It looked in fine health, are you saying that's the guy who is now in hospice!? maybe the dealer was just offering it on your pals behalf at the show.

This badge was sold at Hermann Historica fairly recently, last couple of years.

Can anyone comment on the pink certificate, as the dealer was saying it was original but to me it looked like a photocopy?

Hi Jon, Hugh Brock and I were in correspondence a while back and we talked about the group. A very fine set and before I knew it, it was already reserved. A man true to his word as it was reserved. Sadly I have been told indeed he is declining. Mil

I'm also a fan of custom pin attachments on important badges because it shows the importance of the award to the recipient rather than him throwing the badge in a drawer when the fragile pins broke.
