Interesting shot Ian. I could be wrong on this, but it appears that the man riding shotgun is a Greek soldier and he's wearing a Deutsche Wehrmacht armband.

        Regards

            Hello Ian,
These images were taken from the net, but the style of cap and position of the insignia appear to be very similar to the example that you have presented. I've a clearer image in one of my books that shows a Greek soldier wearing a similar cap. On a historical note and contrary to popular belief, Greece also had it's share of collaborators. It's hard to judge from the image, but the colours and position of the script on the armband closely resemble those on the Deutsche Wehrmacht armband or "Im Dienst der Deutschen Wehrmacht", which were worn by some foreign volunteers. A further examination of your enlarged image also suggests that the cap might even be an Italian "bustina". Although I don't know why an Italian would be wearing an armband, unless it was after the 1943 armistice.

            Regards
            Bern
