          2) Löwen - I think it could be the city of Löwen/Leuven, Belgium - not the animal lion

US Propaganda leaflet - Translation needed please

I was going through some of my grandfather's effects and came across this folded leaflet. He served in the US Army, Pacific Theater. Would very much appreciate if someone could translate.

Diary to an Oberfeldwebel who went missing in action at the start of Operation Bagration, but managed to get back to his own lines after 63 days. Anyone able to decipher?

                  Hello Gerdan,

thats correct, the Loewen in this case stands for the city Leuven and not for the Lion
Once Pauke deciphered it, I punched it into Wikipedia and Leuven came right up...so all is good

Tours is a winner (the photo shows damaged houses and the photos around this one are all taken in France)

                  The second one:

Grab in der Anlage "W" - grave in the installation "W"

                  + b.(ei) Brübg(?) im Pasch?

shows the wooden grave marker from Obersturmfuehrer Hans Bastians, he allegedly shot himself while he was playing around with his gun. He was Himmler's first Chauffeur).....Hm, need to find out what the "b(ei) Bruebg im Pasch" could be...

Thank you very much again Gerdan.

I do not know if the only Hans Bastians I found in the Volksbund list is your guy but I will give you the facts. If it is him he was killed in Ostpreussen (Eastern Prussia), but no place name is given:

                    Nachname:Bastians
                    Vorname:Hans
                    Geburtsdatum:31.05.1926
                    Todes-/Vermisstendatum:01.01.1945
                    Todes-/Vermisstenort:Ostpreussen

Thanks Gerdan, confirms my initial thoughts. I recognized the word kartoffel in several places and "Hunger".

25.6 - Last word looks like "panzer" to me.

He was with the 14. Infanterie - Division, was awarded DKiG and NKiG later in the war. Another 2 pages, did he pick up a pistol, MPi and ammo 7.7?
