It could be but could also be: 5/IV, 5/VI, 5/VII, 5/VIII, 5/XI, 5/XII, 5/XIII, 5/XVII.

Do you have more information about the photo, location perhaps?

that is the tactical symbol for a signals unit. the 3 would designate which kompanie.

Mousey, That is just the tactical marking for a recce battalion with the company number beside it.

Nordi, Your first m/c has the divisional sign of 2 PD (upsidedown Y with a stroke after it) and the tactical marking for a motorcycle battalion again with the company number beside it. The "H" will be from "WH" to indicate that the m/c has been taken into army service.

Both of you will find all you need on this site.
