This field portrait features a Stabswachtmeister with EK 1&2. I like the worn and wavy appearence of the shoulder straps which appear to have a regimental band applied to their base.

A highly decorated Heer NCO hams it up for the camera.

He is decorated with an EK2, Close Combat Clasp, General Assault Badge, Heer Flak Badge, Wound Badge in Silver, a sizable ribbon bar and a trade badge on his sleeve.

To me the most interesting aspect of the photo is not only the many awards displayed by the Soldier but that it looks like he didn't lose his sense of humor after everything he must have seen and experienced. Being with his better half helped I'm sure!
