            The same person wearing the same Pionier overseas cap yet he has since been awarded thew KVKII and the Steuermann badge as well as being promoted to Feldwebel. I wonder if he is still der Spiess in your photo, as you can't see his cuffs.

                        Actually it could all add up.
                        It looks like a bronze bar and these were awarded for 15 days of "Close combat" but this could be reduced to 10 days if wounded. He has a BWB - which would fit the criteria, and as the IC2 is on top and the ribbon appears to be new, so perhaps that was what he was awared. Although unlike the Gold award which automatically confered the DkiG, I don't believe the Silver and Bronze were tied into any other awards.


                        Also on the eastern front:
                        5 combat days being represented by 8 months service;
                        10 days days being represented by 12 months service, and;
                        15 days being represented by 15 months service.

                                Great field photos Bill.

                                The embroidered Lehr cyphers were barely visible in this small photo until I scanned it.
