you will be glad to know that that sign did indeed survive the war and now rests in the Royal Canadian regiments battlefield school museum(and now loaned to the Canadian war museum living history archives...)

Thanks for providing the information about the sign. I just received a few more Kreta pics. Many with the equipment/weapons drop containers (Waffenbehalter).
