I'm not sure what you mean? If you are referring to his boots in pic 1 there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. You will find pics with FJ's wearing the normal dice breakers along with a variety of Models of FJ jump smocks up until the end in 1945.

Just a question here. Why are the FJ helmets different from the regular ones? To prevent neck injury on landing?
