        Hi Calvin,
Very fine example, from an HBT Field Division Jacket.

            Hi Steve,

For some reason I cannot get the photo of your eagle to upload. I'll post it as soon as I am able.
            Regards,

Here it is. Standard splinter backed eagle, but on a very unusual tan-water jump smock. I'll let Steve begin the discussion.

                  Hi Bob,
Can you please post close ups of them individually?
                  Thanks,
                  John

                    Re' Eagle # 96

Thanks John for posting the eagle.

As you can see it is a standard camo eagle on a late-war tan/water smock. I never thought it unusual ( except that it is mostly showing the brown of the camo pattern ) until you mentioned another tan/water smock you had just seen. I refer to the discusion we had over eagle #43 and smock #62 where the background colour of the smock's camo is printed on one side only.
This eagle is from a similar smock albeit in tan/water, ie, the whole of the tan/water pattern ( including the tan background ) is printed onto a plain, off-white natural cotton/rayon base material , leaving the inside of the smock white. This of course is not unusual on Army winter suits, but I believe it is quite rare in FJ smocks. The maker of this smock is Rbnr 0/0250/0908, which is different to the smock you say you have seen, John. This proves it was not peculiar to just one maker .
I would like to hear some theories. Is this some makers using up stocks of winter suit material ? or some form of economy printing ?
                    Anyone-else seen such smocks ?
I should say this is not actually my smock, it belongs to a friend.

                    Regards

                    Steve

                      Hi Steve,

Please send me an pic of the interior and I'll post it as well. In the meantime, here is a greunmeliert backed eagle from the other tan-water Steve mentioned. This smock is also made of an off white, not tan, base fabric. As Steve mentioned, this smock was manufactured by an entirely different maker. Anyone else have or seen jump smocks like this? Looking forward to what Willi thinks when he can be back with us; he is having some computer problems.
                      Regards,
                      John

                        John,

I can't post any photos of the reverse , I didn't save them and the smock has gone back to it's owner. Perhaps you can show the reverse of the smock you posted? I know they are the same.

                        Regards,
                        Steve
