Thks Marco, didn't understand a word of it but have known a few Irish men that fought in the battle, two brothers that were killed with one having a mortat landing directly on his head and only one of his friends surviving who told me the story. They came from Brabazon Street in the Libierties area in Dublin. Grazie Millle...

One day after the destruction of Cassino by bombing the town into total rubble, elements of the New Zealand Division fought their way up Castle Hill, (193) and though resisted by hard fighting German paratroopers, captured and held the Castle, a key position on the winding road up to the Monastery.

                              Hello John...
Janula Castle (or "Rocca Janula") was built between 946 and 986 BC by Abbot Aligerno and served as barracks for the garrison to guard the Monastery of Montecassino.
