The bottom left FJ helmet wasin an old cardboard box full of war relics in a barn somewhere near Heeswijk and Dinther in the 90's. It has shrapnel damage to it, no liner and no name but seems to once have been a thickly camoflaged helmet.

In the box was also a grounddug K98 which I still have somewhere, a M-42 MG barrel in very nice condition which I gave to the Airborne museum Hartenstein in Oosterbeek for display. Also it contained a large piece of US camouflaged parachute, with no doubt authentic. A rusty tanker helmet, a german M-40 helmet some empty 20mm shell casings and a rusty old british machette these I also still have.

The farmer told me that his son had found and collected these items from that area; I have no reason to doubt his story at all.

The lower right helmet was found in the woods just north-east of Vernray as the former owner stated. Also this helmet has no name to it but still had the liner partially. I think I already have shown these helmets on this forum before.

      Thanks for looking !

Well i thought that before Henner contact me. He showed me the solbuch
from Michael Wieland last friday. The soldbuch is in his collection. Perhaps it is polite from you to mention this in your post.

I honestly thought I did mention that this was in Henner’s collection, but I can see that I have not. If you were to check any of the threads where I post items for Henner (and I do this rather often) you will find that I always, always give credit to him.

Also, FWIW, Henner and I have an agreement that when he does sell this Soldbuch, I will get first right of refusal. So, basically it’s a matter of time before I acquire it.

If that is the road you chose to take, that’s fine by me, however when someone who’s obviously interested in an item and makes a offer lower than what I think it is worth and then upon having their offer refused makes nasty comments and says things to like “It has a nice picture in it and that he was in 667 but that's it..." well how do you expect me to react? Especially knowing you are interested in it. So let’s talk about who wasn’t “polite,” shall we? I found the PM you sent rude and offensive but I see it’s being turned around to make me look like the “bad guy” here. I did nothing wrong, yet you chose to take this tone with me?

            Real nice.

            Whatever...

Does anyone here own any Soldbücher or Wehrpässe to soldiers who served in Kampfgruppe Knaust/Panzer-Kompanie Mielke?

                      How about schwere-Panzer-Kompanie "Hummel" or Panzer-Kompanie 244?

                        Robert:

No Knaust / Mielke Soldbuch or Wehrpass, but a few years ago I was able to pick up a smalll KIA grouping from two brothers, one Kriegsmarine, one Wehrmacht (Panzer). The Wehrmacht fellow served as Mielke's personal Panzer Driver at Arnhem. The grouping included a letter written by Mielke to the parents of his Panzer Driver who was KIA in the opening days of "Market Garden". This set now resides in a friend of mine's collection - if of interest to you, please contact me directly.

                              Panzer-Kompanie "Mielke" Soldbuch

I have a few IDs to Panzer crews who participated in the Battle of Arnhem (including a Soldbuch to a Tiger I crew member from "schwere Panzer-Kompanie "Hummel.") Here's one of them; a Soldbuch to Panzeroberschütze (later Gefreiter) Hans Schütze who served with Panzer-Kompanie "Mielke" of Kampfgruppe "Knaust."

Notice the entries on page 04 for "Marschkompanie"/Pz.Ers.Abt.11 and also Panzer-Ersatz-Abteilung.11 on line a., section B and section D respectively, as well as the 5./Kampfgruppe "Knaust" (Panzer-Kompanie "Mielke") entry on line b, section C.

This very Soldbuch is featured on page 84 of "Retake Arnhem Bridge" by Bob Gerritsen and Scott Revell (of DefendingArnhem.com). It's an incredibly rare piece of "Battle of Arnhem" Panzer crew history and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have acquired it for my collection.

I hope you enjoy the scans............
