I could not agree more, very impressive SS Wehrpass of a man who fell in the heart of the Market Garden fights in Oosterbeek. I'm sure this will make a lot of our Dutch members jealous!

Lee, that's a very nice WP of Karl Scholz. I really prefer soldbucher with placenames entries like the one you have with the Oosterbeek KIA notification. Then you're sure he was there instead of guessing that he was there.

Do you perhaps know if he is buried in that area? I couldn't find him on the german Volksbund.

        Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the comments on the battledresses Rob

Here a medium rare EKII Urkunde from a member of Schw. Jag. Abt. 559. Signed by General leutnant Kurt Chill commander of the 85th ID. The 3rd company was equiped with StuG. This Abteilung fought in my livingplace on 17 september 1944. I still have the axe from one of the StuG who was left behind here. The P559 shoulderboard came from a very good friend. Muchos Gracias again

        regards Erwin

          Hello Tim

Here another wehrpass from Volksgrenadier Division 361 from an officer from Gren. Regt. 953. His name was Gunther Dornemann.

I'm consider myself lucky that i never sold it now you're saying this unit fought in the Arnhem area.

          regards

I´m the happy new owner of the Soldbuch Angel told about on page 5 of this thread
The guy (actualy boy) was in PzGr.Reg.156 of the 116.PzDiv. "Der Windhund".
The 116. arrived after the real Market Garden battle but did fought near Arnhem.
The guy got captured by the English on 5th oktober during an English attack at De Laar. Which today is a part of Arnhem.
              With the Soldbuch came:
              * The letter from his kompanie to his mother informing he was MIA, probably captured.
              * A postcard send by him from his POW camp to his mom.
              * Discharge papers
              * Some sort of French discharge paper?

Nothing special, no medals, but a nice Soldbuch IMO
Funny detail: he started his soldier life in Nijmegen and ended it in Arnhem... both close together in Holland and important in Market Garden.

I knew I recognized the Wehrpass from somewhere... this turned up on the estand a year or two ago.

I much prefer Soldbücher that were actually there in the thick of combat, but this WP does have some nice entries and is a nice documentation of his combat career. I believe I read somewhere that this unit was equipped with both self propelled Panzerjägers and towed PaKs, but fought during M-G with only towed PaKs...... Please correct me if I am wrong

Erwin, that's a wonderful EKII Urkunde, and the original Chill signature makes it all the more impressive! If I am correct, at the time of M-G schwere Panzerjäger-Abteilung 559's 1.Kompanie was equipped with Jagdpanthers and both the second and third Kompanies, StuG.III's I would love to see the StuG.III relics you have found... To know it came from a vehicle from this unit that fought where you live is just awesome.

I also really like the s.Pz.Jg.Abt.559 shoulder strap. That's a very rare and very desirable piece of cloth many collectors (myself included) would love to own.

It's great to see this thread revived!

Interesting addition ! The soldier of Pz Gren. Regt. 156 was interned in POW camp of Hesdin, in "Nord Pas de Calais" frenc region, and the document (not a discharge) certify that his money belong to him, legaly, when he was liberated of camp.

Thanks to everyone. Getting this piece was a little bit lucky. I had the money at the right time.

When my copy of "Retake Arnhem Bridge" arrives, I will post a scan (or two) of the KIA letter to the parents of Mielke's (first) Panzer Driver Gustav Schumacher that I used to own and now resides in the collection of a very good friend of mine....

For our friends of Holland, here a little paper of interest, together with few others documents of a soldier of 353.ID and later Kampfgruppe Ohler of 85.ID in Seine river - Belgium (Albert Canal) - Holland.

Here a Soldbuch and KVKII document (i got a big pile of other non-military documents of him aswell) from someone who was in Sturmgeschütz-Brigade 667 which was part of Kampfgruppe Chill.

Unfortunatly the photo in the SB has been removed.
But i got photos of the guy in other documents of him, like his driver licence.
