    Hello Rob

It's a great soldbuch so you deserve such comments. I don't live near Arnhem so that's why it isn't my area. I try to focus on what happened near the Dutch/Belgium border. German and Allied

My last finds are 2 battledresses from the Guards Armoured division. 1 Irish Guards (dated 1944) and 1 Welsh Guards (dated 1943) Both units fought in my living place on 17 september 1944. I believe, if i read it correctly in the book from Scott and Bob that they fought against Kampfgruppe Knaust in the Betuwe aswell. Insignia are original attached to the jackets.

    Best regards

    Erwin

      Nice jackets Erwin!
I can't attach scans, but I thought some of you would like to see this Soldbuch:

      Short story:

Rudolf Schäfer was born on February 9th 1911. He served during the whole war with Infanterie(Grenadier)-Regiment 732 of the 712. Infanterie-Division. From 1941-1944 he served with his unit for coastal duties around the Belgian-French and later Belgian-Dutch coast.
In september 1944 they saw action around Axel at the Gent-Terneuzen Canal. In the end of september they where sent to Holland around 's Hertogenbosch. In october 1944 they had build a defensive line around 's Hertogenbosch. From 22 october on, they fought for 6 days in 's Hertogenbosch for which he received the EKII. A few days later they attacked over the Zaltbommel bridge for which he received the ISA(together with ofcourse 2 other infantry attacks). Now the most interesting part: In the end of december 1944 the 712.I.D. was sent to the 'Betuwe'. In january 1945 he got wounded in the Betuwe and sent to a hospital in Germany where he received the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz. Later he was sent to replacement troops in Germany.

        Thanks Dennis,

I have also the capbadges, denim BD, a picture and an extra welsh guards arm insignia from the original owner of the welsh guard battledress. This one came straight from the vets family.

Very nice soldbuch you have there. I have a document signed by general Neumann commander of the 712 ID somewhere in my boxes. He had his headquarter in Hinthamerpark. The document is pre Market Garden

        best regards

        Erwin

Soldbuch to Herbert Gramkau. He was with Gren. Ers. & Ausb. Btl 46 in late summer and fall of 1944. This unit was attached to Division Nr. 190, that fought in Holland September thru December 1944.

Note the entry Div Nr 190 Fus. komp., then changed to Fus Batl. 190 when the division was changed to the 190th Infanterie Division. He saw some heavy fighting with the 30th Inf. Div, France and Army Group North.

Erwin, those are really amazing tunics and you are very lucky to have them... the fact that you have the provenance behind the Welsh Guards (coming straight from the family) makes it all the more impressive.

Floris - thanks so much for the complements, I am really glad you enjoyed seeing the Soldbuch and I am happy I was able to help contribute to this great thread (not to mention Scott and Bob's book!) If I come across any Panzer-Brigade 107 Soldbücher or Wehrpässe I will be sure to let you know! I personally would love to have a StuG crew Soldbuch to a member of Sturmgeschütz-Brigade 280, like the wonderful example in Scott's collection and featured on his website

                      Dennis, Nice Soldbuch!

                        Ss

                        One of my best.

Wehrpass to Karl Scholz, he volunteered for the SS and was sworn in on 21-10-1939, in Weimar-Buchenwald.

Belonging to 14/SS Inf. Rgt. 10, he fought with the 1st SS Inf. Brigade. This unit fought all over the Eastern front and rear areas. This conflicts with the listings on page 32, that follows the battle history of the Totenkopf Div. He was wounded and ended up in Holland with SS Pz Jag Ausb Abt 2.

Directly involved in the fighting of Market-Garden, he was killed in Osterbeek, 22-9-44'.
